trip report that is,,, while quickies have there place and all......
:)
So, after not sleeping much, Lex drove me to the airport and I met Rose, Terminal A. We checked in with the skycap (love that option) and proceeded to security. Why is it that it's always stand, move a little, stand, move a little, but then when you finally get to the conveyor belt it's, hurry hurry hurry. Our flight left on time and landed on time. Orlando airport is easy enough to navigate and we waited on line for about a half hour to pick up our rental car. For those that I didn't txt that day to say,"OH MY GOODNESS look what I'm driving!"
Here's a photo:
I usually hate driving cars that are not my own, makes me nervous. You know steering and brakes feel different. But, this car was a breeze to drive. Didn't feel much different than my little red Vibe. This pic was taken with my BB Curve, never got to take a pic with the regular digital so am happy this one is decent.
Our hotel was a quick ride from the airport and we parked and grabbed out luggage out of the trunk to hurry to see what the Hotel even looked like. You can't see it from the road. It's hidden through all the strategically placed plants, trees and flower bushes. What I could see from the driveway was this:
Yeah, ok,, a building and lots of foliage. Let me tell you this is about 1/5 of the building, it's HUGE.
So then at the top of the driveway was this:
That's actually looking back to the driveway instead of towards the lobby.
The lobby is actually the 3rd floor of the Resort because when you look left and right when walking this bridge this is your view:
This Resort is located right next to I-4 and next to Island of Adventure at Universal, from this vantage point you would never know it. It's tranquil and quiet with a waterfall directly under this bridge (which I never got to take a picture of) so all you hear is water flowing. Occasionally in the background you could hear screams from one of the rides at Universal. But most of the time you would hear nothing.
Here are some room shots:
My bed,, it was super comfy and a king.
A really comfy cozy chair that Rose sat in most of the time when we were hangin in my room:
And the much need coffee maker and HDTV:
There was a mini bar in the middle spot of that dresser but they kept it locked. Not that I would have paid $4 for a can of soda or $7 for a large bottle of water but hey was just curious to see what else was in there.
In the middle of the lobby was this outdoor garden, it was beautiful:
There were lots of statues and things that I took pictures of, plus more flowers but you get the idea. I am planning on making a mini scrapbook for both Rose and I so you will probably see more pictures then.
You know me and my macro shots, I loved this lamp in my room and wish I could have figured out where to purchase one. Love it!
Have I mentioned the pool? Ahhhh the pool. It was huge.
We spent a few evenings here:
And the drinks, we had many:
Pomegranate margaritas: Two pics,,, two different margaritas (actually had about 4 of these during the trip.
Then there was my favorite drink of the the trip,,, the Blue Hawaii. No idea what was in it but had a few sittin out at the pool:
There was the night we realized that our table at Margaritaville looked like this:
I'm guessing we didn't want to get dehydrated. :)
And there was the evening I got dirty,,, a Dirty Martini that is:
It was deeee-lish.
Took this picture through a Pomegranate Margarita fog,,, go figure,, I like it,,even sober.
There was the much appreciated complimentary coffee maker in the room which was awesome! Made a cup of coffee in 3 minutes.
It's silly how it's actually fun to use. Pop the little coffee thingy in the top no coffee to open or measure at all, pour in the water and press brew. Done. Come to think of it, I never took the little coffee thing out of it each day, guess the maid did. Hmm, cool beans.
But of course a highlight of my trip was seeing this face, even in a goofy hat at a store in Universal Citywalk:
That's Dina. We worked together for years at UCP and now she lives in Daytona. Sniff sniff. I hadn't seen her since September. Seeing her for one evening made me miss her and her hubby Michael even more! They surprised me by bringing another ex-UCP'er with them as well. I forget how long Roberto has been living down there but it was great to see them all and I seriously regret that this is the one and only photo I took that whole night!
So that's my quick trip report which took me about a half hour to write, not so quick but hey, I finally got it done!!
Love to all,,, XOXO
Better late than never. Thanks for sharing. Points deducted for tardiness...lol
